Question of the Day

Apu or Kahn?

This group blog is going to last about six to eight months, and then it will die a slow death due to neglect. I'm not saying this in a mean-spirited way at all. But I'm guessing that none of these daddies will want to publish what they believe to be their funniest stories on a group blog. They will reserve those stories for their own blogs.

But good luck! I hope that this blog will last. And, again, I'm not trying to be mean.

Dude, wassup with the playa hating? :)

FYI, only 3 of the 7 of us currently maintain our own dadblogs, one of us opted to fold his into the group blog, and the others joined up without ever having their own blogs b/c they wanted a place where they could write about being an Asian American dad, whatever that means to them.

Aight, "anonymous"? Thank you, come again!

Yo Anonymous (you're not Joe Klein, are you?)...

I can't speak for everyone here but this blog isn't meant to be all funny jokes and witty posts. It's really pretty simple. We're just a bunch of guys who share the fact that we're Asian-American dads. This is a place where we can throw down some thoughts concerning race, discuss various related topics, and engage in a community together. I think readers will come from all sorts of diverse backgrounds to join in the discussion (I hope!)

Will it last? Who knows? At the very least, I think there's certainly a void in the internet where Asian-American parents can come and discuss issues that they identify with....no more, no less.

Long live rice daddies!! As if you need the internet to validate the role you play in our Asian families. As long as you keep making babies, adventure will follow... and we all want to share in your journeys!

Oh and KAHN!

As I said before, I wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings, and I hope this blog works out. (I am puzzled as to why this statement wasn't taken at face value.)

Alas, I'm not Joe Klein. But I think that the analogy may be misplaced. Joe Klein wrote -- and later denied writing (he basically lied) -- a parody whose central character was modeled after President Clinton. I don't think that I was trying to parody anyone. Also, I am taking full credit for what I wrote. I just didn't want to leave my name because, as many of us know, some people are more sensitive than others. On the other hand, Joe Klein lied repeatedly about the fact that he wrote "Primary Colors."

Yikes! Will I once again get slammed for writing these non-PC remarks? I thought you guys were all about NOT being PC? What's up with that?

I think Rice Daddies are awesome! Long may you blog.

I dunno "anonymous", if you had a personal blog would you like to read comments like "your blog will die because no one will read it"?

It's got nothing to do with PC or non PC, it just sounds rude.

more important matters re: Q of the day- Kahn!

Dear DazzlerAB: I am going to write this in a nice way, and please know that it is being written without any malice or sarcasm whatsoever.

I hope you are not implying that everyone has to write something sycophantic about Rice Daddies. Gosh, I prefaced my comments by saying it wasn't intended to be mean! What more do I have to do to convince you of that?

I'm outta here! I sure ain't going to be a sychophant to a group of self-important (and obviously thin-skinned) people.
