MetroDad's Peanut thinks all Asian men are her daddy... Heh.

Our own MetroDad, who hasn't been seen in these parts for quite some time [sniff, we miss you, MD! come back!], has a post up on Babble's StrollerDerby (which is run, by the way, by our sistah-blogger CityMama) about how his own Peanut has fallen prey to the all-Asians-look-the-same myth, at least when it comes to her dear daddy and a certain major league baseball player of East Asian extraction. Heh. Go read it.

I'll read the post.

My almost 3 yr old daughter thinks that all men who are of a certain build and wear black jeans and black leather loafers are her daddy. Imagine the horror on some strange guy's face when my little girl tugs on his pant leg and says, "Daddy!"

Wow, I'm not sure how I'd react if that happened to me. So far 4 kids and not once have they ever mistaken another Asian man to be me.

Honestly what in the world would cause that?

In China a local toddler playing in the park with her grandpa toddled over and looked up at my white woman's face with excitement called me Auntie.

My two year old doesn't have trouble with Asian men, but white men are rare enough around these parts that he thinks that all balding white men are his "papa" aka grandpa and screams his head off if he's not allowed to run after them.

My son thinks all short Korean guys who insist on speaking with an Irish brogue nonstop even at Safeway while mommy is turning bright red and pretending she's shopping alone are his Dad.
